The cost of the  exam is $180. This price includes the medical examination by the panel physician and submission of the medical report via eMedical only. The price excludes any costs associated with blood tests or x-rays that may be required, which are charged separately by LifeLabs and the radiology clinic, respectively. 


If you are a refugee, the cost may likely be covered by the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). Please email us at surreyime@gmail.com if you have any questions.


Yes, we complete IMEs for refugees.

  • Government Issued ID – must bring 1 of the following:
    • Original valid passport (preferred) or a copy certified by a Canadian Visa Office
    • National ID Card
    • Canadian Driver’s license
    • Refugee Protection Claimant Document
    • Refugee travel document
    • Acknowledgement of Claim and Notice to Return for Interview
    • The Interim Federal Health Certificate
  • Any official papers you received from Immigration Canada
    • work permit, visitor permit, study permit, IRCC, IFH refugee document, etc
    • IMM1017 form (if you have been issued one). This is NOT REQUIRED for an Upfront Medical 
  • List of current prescribed medications (if applicable)
    • medication name and dosages required
  • Any medical reports that you have for any previous or current medical conditions
  • Prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses (if applicable)
  • An interpreter and/or chaperone (if required)
  • If you are coming as part of the CUAET program, then please bring a valid MSP Card 


  • Age 0-10 years: medical exam
  • Age 11-14: medical exam, chest x-ray
  • Age 15+: medical exam, chest x-ray, blood test



You do not need to return to the clinic after the medical exam. We submit your results to IRCC digitally using eMedical. 


No, your photo will be taken at the time of your appointment. 


Yes, there are no restrictions on eating or drinking before your medical exam and tests. No fasting is required.
